Elizabeth F Cote

Elizabeth Cote works to heal the gaps between body and mind, self and other, and inside and outside through site responsive sculptural works and installations that explore sensation. Her works blend seemingly discrete materials like felt and steel wool to embody the emergent qualities of person and space in abstract forms. Cote has exhibited throughout the US and in Japan, Norway, and Denmark at venues including Glasmuseet Ebeltoft; S12 Bergen; Contemporary Art Toledo; Shikoku Mura; and Comfort Station. Awards include Prairie Ronde AIR; Byrdcliffe AIR; Global Art Joint Project with Tokyo University; S12 AIR; and full scholarships to Penland School of Craft, and Pilchuck Glass School. Born in New York, Cote holds an MFA in Sculpture from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and BFA from Alfred University. She lives and works in Chicago, IL where she is a Lecturer at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
